Getting local input is important to the project’s success. The Outer Banks office of The Nature Conservancy, North Carolina Chapter, is bringing together stakeholders from Roanoke Island to discuss coastal hazards in their communities. Information will be collected for the Coastal Resilience mapping tool, which is being developed by The Nature Conservancy to display key economic, social and natural assets, as well as coastal risks and hazards. The information can help communities plan how to use natural solutions, such as building oyster reefs and restoring coastal marshes. March 26 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Dare County Center on Marshall Collins Drive in Manteo (OBvoice)

Already regular visitors to the area, the Bergerons plan to spend alternating weeks in the seaside home while Catherine, a hospital physician, is free from work.
