With Currituck Sound to one side and the Atlantic Ocean to the other, water sports and outdoor adventures abound.

 

  •  A large pleasure craft was adrift and partially submerged in the middle of the Croatan Sound Tuesday morning. Kevin Miggles captured a photo of the boat when it was located off the N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island and Dare County Regional Airport, halfway between the William B. Umstead and Virginia Dare bridges. The boat was first spotted in the sound, but no other details were available. (OBvoice)

  • The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce says it will formally restate its opposition to offshore oil and gas exploration in response to a request for public comments on lease sales off the North Carolina Coast. In the July 2014 resolution, the chamber said it was against “exploration and production of petroleum resources on the continental shelf or elsewhere off the coast of North Carolina.” The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is seeking public input on the lease sales for 2015-2022. The deadline is March 30. (OBvoice)
